RUMI MURAL - HOPE ST. DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

Rumi has always been a great inspiration of mine. Being a lover of the written word and an humble student of the Spirit, I was drawn from a very early age to his work. So when the DoArt foundation and the city of LA presented me with the opportunity to paint a wall with a subject of my choice, it was a no brainer…For visual purposes, I went for a symbolic representation of a whirling dervish – Rumi was the founding father of the whirling dervish Order- and focus on the main elements of their ritualistic dance: the two hands and the spinning skirt.

WESTCHESTER MURAL - CITY OF WESTCHESTER, CA

In the fall of 2014 Karen Vial approached the Doart Foundation for a mural project commemorating the legacy of the Drollinger family in the city of Westchester. They settled for a 180ft wall near the LAX airport, for a piece that would pay tribute to Howard Drollinger along with other family menbers, and also reflect the history and cultural diversity of this neighborhood.

MY FRIEND'S PLACE MURAL, HOLLYWOOD, CA

MY FRIEND’S PLACE is located in the hart of HOLLYWOOD and is the only youth homeless shelter in LA county. They needed some art to inspire the spirit of young peeps walking through their doors and called up to the DOART for some art work. This project is still one of the dearest to my heart and I always feel humbled coming into this building. I am really attached to the idea of using art for a practical purpose and that’s exactly what this project was about: To inspire the youth and to put them in a better mental
place where they could receive the help they need.
